“Honouring and owning your story” with Alana and James
“Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing that we will ever do” – Brene Brown
This workshop is all about reclaiming your story and honoring the stories that shaped you.
We’ll gather on a day many in the southern hemisphere celebrate as Samhain or All Hallows Eve—a celebration of what has gone before and one’s ancestors, as well as a time for playing pretend—to pay homage to story’s ability to link us to our pasts and to new states of being.
Through creative play, meditation, movement, music, and laughter, Alana and James will guide you through:
· The importance of stories.
· The many forms storytelling can take (It’s not all about words!)
· How to reconnect with your story.
· How to reclaim you story through authentic expression.
Alana will share insights from the latest research on storytelling—including the intimate connection between narrative, embodiment, and identity. We’ll explore the stories stored in our own bodies in a short yoga sequence and meditation. We’ll connect through games, sharing our own stories or stories that are meaningful to us, then step back to contemplate what wisdom these stories can bring us today.
Participants will be treated to live music by James throughout the workshop.
