Backbends are some of the most beneficial, most powerful and valuable of the asanas that yoga has to offer.Â Much of life today, physically and emotionally, can lead to overwhelm and progressive shutdown from our fullest expression.Â This manifests physically as a closing down of the front of the torso, narrowing and tightening of the chest and shoulder muscles and dullness in the spine.Â Mentally and emotionally, this leaves us less sharp, less bright, less full than we can beÂ So little of the movement that we do and the shapes we hold ourselves in (Think of how you hold yourself when at the computer, using your phone and driving, to name but a few) counter this.
Backbends do. Â Strong, deep, juicy, delicious backbends can change all this.
This workshop explores how you can reclaim the fullness of your being through exploration of a wide range of backbends.Â Intelligent sequencing and fun flows will awaken your spine and bring you to a greater understanding of how to use your whole body in backbends to more healthfully create deep, full and vivid opening.Â The workshop will explore more advanced variations, sequences and transitions, all designed to give you an experience of greater courage, a sharper mind and more beaming heart!
